Drew raced in his Pinewood Derby for Scouts tonight. His entry was a car shaped like a Hershey's chocolate bar. One picture shows the other cars in his age group. It was a pretty impressive bunch, but Drew took 1st place in design! He went on to get a 3rd place trophy for design for the entire pack.His car not only looked good. It was also fast! Another picture shows his car winning one heat by such a great margin that the other cars are not even in the picture! Drew went on to win 1st place for the fastest car in his age group, and again finished 3rd in the entire pack. (The pack had over 40 cars racing.)
I believe Drew now gets to take his car to Districts to race against all the other packs in the Northland. To be continued ...

I remember building cars with Casey - I never really appreciated until the night we raced them just how much "Dad cred" is on the line with those things. I always felt like if our car ( it is really "our" car, isn't it?? ) ended up painfully slow and lost every race, that I'd let my kid down somehow as a father. So way to go, to the both of you! Good luck with the districts.
